Most of what you swallow is broken down before it reaches your blood: up to 40% in the stomach, then roughly another 45% on its first pass through the liver. A strip takes a different route, through the thin lining of your mouth.
An oral strip is a thin, flavored film that sits on or under your tongue. It melts away in about 30 seconds. No water, no capsule, no can.
The lining of your mouth is only 100–150 micrometers thick, with tiny blood vessels sitting just 10–20 micrometers beneath it.
Oral films are designed to break down in 15–60 seconds, so there’s nothing to chew and nothing to wash down. A pack slips into a pocket, purse, diaper bag or cupholder, ready for instant energy whenever nap time ends early.
This explainer describes the format only. It is not medical advice and makes no health claims.
Approximate minutes until each format starts to show up in the blood. Shorter is faster.

A pill can take 30–60 minutes just to break down before digestion gets going. A strip gets to work in your mouth and skips the gut altogether.

In a patient acceptability study, 85.4% chose an oral dissolving film over a liquid, pointing to convenience, accurate dosing and how easy it is to carry.

A strip carries its dose in a film weighing about 120mg. Packing the same 5mg of active into a pill takes around 1,000mg, and into a gummy about 5,000mg.

Swallowed supplements usually land around 10–20% once digestion and the liver take their share. Delivered through the mouth, strips reach up to 85%.
